False sense of security..
Have you all noticed how satan will give you a false sense of 'security' in your sins? (..professing themselves to be wise they became fools Romans 1:22)
The Word of God is the only thing that keeps me from being lulled back into this false sense of security. Like youve ive thought the following:
1. Nobody will see me
Reality Check: We'd be surprised who has seen us in our 'secret underworld'. Or who has heard about our secret lives through reliable sources. remember the world is smaller than you think. How many times have you been riding down the street and seen someone but they didnt see you? It could be that God is keeping them quiet so you wont be exposed...
2. God understands...'Lord just let me do it again to get it out of my system
Reality Check: Isnt this what got us caught up in the first place? Doing it the first time? LOL
3. Lord so and so has been doing it for years and yet you're still being merciful to them. I havent been in it as long..
Reality check: Our carnal mind, (as jacked up as it is) tries with all of its might to get on God's good side. That is in this instance, to get Him to wink at our sin since there are so many others in our opinion that are more wretched than WE are. Scripture tells us different. God tells us that He has mercy on whom He pleases. PERIOD. Lets not kid ourselves by trying to see if God plays favorites.
4. It wont happen to me! ('it' being loss of marriage, kids, risking arrest, stds, reputation, suicide, strait jacket at the mental ward etc)
Reality check: Whether youre caught on the outer part of a spiders web or on a string right next to the spider, youre trapped all the same. Impending danger rarely announces its arrival...it just falls on you and you know when youve been bit.
We think that there are a certain number of steps before doom comes. God says their foot shall slide in due time. Due time for YOU may be a different calendar date for ME. You may have been cheating for 5 years and got caught. I may have cheated for 1 day....but the same thing is destined to happen to both of us. The Bible is full of lessons of people to learn from who made wrong choices as well as our everday life with people we've known such as our friends and ummm...ourselves!! Lets encourage each other to use these resources so we'll be kept from danger. The name of the Lord is a strong tower...the righteous run into it and are saved.
