Well... I'm struggling with porn. (Lol, obviously or I wouldn't be typing this.) I started looking at it when I was 14 and I would like to change after I found all I could think about is sex. I don't want to end up losing my virginity... which probably won't happen since there's not many gays where I live. (Thought I should probably point out that I'm addicted to gay porn. Not the 'normal' porn.)
I've posted pretty much the same thing before, but it's gotten worse. I mostly view porn on my iPodTouch, so I removed the "google" app, which is where I viewed porn. But I started viewing it on the Safari app, which I can't delete because it's one of those apps you start with.
SO....... I need help. ...Which is quite obvious...

(I am Christian... Idk, just thought I would also that out since gay and Christian doesn't really mix with some famlies.)

Breaking free

Dear Zachery,
It's so hard to break free from Internet Porn Addiction, partly since, as you noticed it's so hard to remove the easy access points to the porn. I went through a similar thing of trying to set up individual browser restrictions to keep myself away from porn. The thing is there's almost always a way around those obstacles.

One of the more helpful resources I found to help beat my own addiction was the book "In the Shadows of the Net: Breaking Free of Compulsive Online Sexual Behavior" by Patrick Carnes et al." I got it at a Barnes & Noble to avoid any awkwardness in getting it shipped to my house.

One thing that's helpful for a lot of people is to get a buddy to be mutually accountable to a trusted friend you're comfortable with giving access to your browsing history. The idea is that becoming accountable to someone else can help break the porn addiction since I think most porn addicts don't want their friends to see how bad their porn problem is. You can set up a feature like this on Open DNS. Then your buddy can see the sites you've accessed. The problem is this tracks the sites you check on the network you set up with open dns. There are however parent tracking software packages that will track your web history for you and or friends to see no matter what network you use.

One thing that helped me was to focus on the cost of porn to porn stars. Like how recently a male porn star contracted HIV on a gay porn shoot. (If it helps, my struggles with breaking my addiction to porn are on the forum string called "First Posting From an Internet Porn Addict. Three Days Porn Free.") It's hard for me to get turned on by the porn if I put into the front of my mind that a performer might have contracted an STD in making the scene, or might have been on drugs or alcohol to get through it. Or was pressured into the shoot.

I hope that helps. You're not alone. Good luck!

Sincerely,
An Internet Porn Addict

No porn for about.. a week.

I went about a week without porn. But looked at it again, and a few hours later I felt horrible. So, that helps with my porn addiction. To know how horrible I'll feel after I get done looking at it.
And I have no friends in real life.. Lol. (Not counting my family.) I have a few best friends online who know about my porn addiction; One who is helping. And another one who gave me a link to this site.

OpenDNS

If you have access to the router conifg you can set it to use OpenDNS servers, sign up at their site
there you can filter sites. The filter will be active on any device that uses the network like your iPod Touch.
