Cold turkey anyone?
Hey guys, I've been reading "Every Man's Battle" by Steve Arteburn and Fred Stokey, and I'm about halfway through - great book. There was a chapter on quitting cold turkey. Fred says you can't beat this by gradually quitting, you have to go cold turkey 100%. And that's not just porn. It's the whole deal. Mental fantasies, eyeballing women, masturbation, everything. He talks about making a covenant with your eyes to live like a man.
What does it mean to live like a man? It's a lot different than just being a male. A male dog, a male lion, a male goat, they all do whatever their urges tell them to do. We are born male, but we can choose to become men. God will not take away our urges and our temptations, but he will give us the strength to become men in the midst of it.
Do you guys like warrior movies? Braveheart, Gladiator, Private Ryan? I do. Love them. All of them have real men in them. They're not just good fighters, they are not just tough guys, they are men. Men of honor, of principal, of character. Men who can look in the face of the enemy and not flinch. Are we? Are we more than just a guy? Are you a man? I'm 36 years old and I look back and have to say mostly no. I want to be a man. I want to have the character to wage war against what is wrong and stand and die if necessary to protect the ones I love. Will you?
Will you guys, stand with me and take a pledge to manhood? Will you commit to 6 weeks of total purity? 6 weeks of no porn, no mental fantasies, no eyeballing women, no masturbation? Will you? No matter how hard it gets at times, will you commit to fight and fight and fight and possibly with your dying breath to fight? I will. I've been porn free for coming up on 2 months, but I want to be a man, and a man is a man everywhere, not just on the outside.
Let's fight against an enemy that's more tough than a Hun, more clever than a guerilla fighter and more relentless than a suicide bomber. It's our lust. Can we step up and volunteer for mortal combat against such a foe? Are you man enough?

I just have to say praise god for you all, I bought every mans battle for my husband last month, all hell will fall apart before he reads it! He has sworn he will, he has read two pages out of it and says "every man fantasizes" He has his own battle to fight. I am so glad to see you reading this book. I am so encouraged by you fellow brothers of mine in christ out there. I wish my husband would, we are about to loose our marriage due to his porn addiction and other problems, you keep up the work, (I hope you dont mind a lady encouraging you!)

You need to understand that masturbation is unnatural, it is a lie.
We where not ment for it. It's like cigarettes, you don't need them.
I'm set free from both. The deliverance experiance was exactly the same for cigaretts as messturbation. YOU SHALL KNOW THE THRUTH AND TH THRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE. Now I do all that I can to protect my mind from impure exposure. COLD TURKEY, there's nothing like it.

I am convinced that the only way to go is Cold Turkey. The reason being is that in not doing so it always gives Satan a foothold to reach in and grab you when your guard is down. Satan fooled me about 8 months ago into thinking oh i'll just get off gradually, but it never works, its a pit that leads to the bottomless pit. I read that book around the same time and althought hte conviction was strong my will was not where it needed to be. Being free, free at last is the prize and Jesus will help us get there. i have read that book and also had a book called the road to grace by my genung. i have been free for half a year and fell. then 4 months and fell. now im free really at about 3 months now
